1001 Remarkable Objects
Until 28th April
With the intent of showcasing the diversity of the Powerhouse’s archives, Leo Schofield AM might have just curated the most niche, yet all-encompassing exhibition that Sydney has ever seen. In among 1001 Remarkable Objects, there’s something to intrigue Australian film buffs, porcelain collectors, Georgian era enthusiasts, luxury fashionistas, car fanatics – and, well, we could be here all day. This exhibition isn’t about showcasing a few “masterpieces” – instead, it focuses on items that are remarkable perhaps for their back story or their rarity.
Location: The Powerhouse
Christmas Festival
Until 25th December
Kicking off at the end of the month is the City of Melbourne’s four-week-long Christmas Festival set to take over the city.
Location: Throughout Melbourne
Marshmallow Laser Feast: Work of Nature
Until 14th April
Open your eyes, ears and mind when you visit the Works of Nature exhibition from London-based experimental art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast. The world premiere immersive exhibition challenges visitors to see the world from a new standpoint by highlighting the hidden connections between ourselves and nature, beyond our everyday perception. Works of Nature consists of five awe-inspiring artworks incorporating interactive elements of meditation to add to the mesmerising experience. Marshmallow Laser Feast partner and director Ersin Han Ersin says each artwork is inspired by the collective’s passion for “ecology, astronomy and technology”.
